Kate graduated from Calif. State Univ. Long Beach with a BFA in FiberArts in 1990. After college Kate worked as a textile print designer in the Apparel Business for 20 years. The hours she was away from her day job she continued created art. As a fiber artist she worked with fabric and fiber to create abstract and figurative 3-dimensional forms.
In 2009 after moving from Los Angeles to Charlotte she started painting full time focusing on portrait/figure work painting in acrylics, watercolors and mixed media.
Kate teaches all around the country as well as creating online classes. One of her dreams was to teach in Italy. In the Fall of 2016 that dream came true. She will be teaching a Fresco class using mixed media with a focus on angels in Orvieto, Italy
‘Fractured Angels is the continuous thread throughout my work. My art parallels my spiritual journey and I identify with the flawed, cracked and fractured human yearning for peace and fulfillment. The older I get the stronger the pull to explore and express this theme in my work.
