LAURA MCRAE HITCHCOCK
I am inspired by trying to capture the image and feeling of a moment in time…and finding the beauty that lies within it. Perhaps, when we see these moments portrayed in paint on the canvas, they remind us of our own memories. Or maybe the paintings make us stop and pay attention to the right now, in this minute. What makes something special? What makes us remember one moment and forget the next?
Laura began drawing and painting when she was a child. She attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA where she received her BA in Art and won the Dalton Art Award.
She studied portrait art under Dr. Joyce M. Davis, and oil painting under Susan Gray Be’. She has worked in acrylic, pastel and now works primarily in oil.
Laura believes that the simple act of paying attention makes something meaningful and beautiful. So stop…breathe…look…breathe…and enjoy.
