Santa’s elves must have been in the candy bowl again, because the excitement at Ciel was over the top this weekend and last, with back-to-back Saturday Sidewalk Sales and a Gallery Crawl cookie sandwiched in the middle!
Queen elf Emily Andress turned the gallery into a festive wonderland filled with trees, lights, glitz and glitter.Member artists each created one-of-a-kind ornaments to benefit Loaves and Fishes, and generous Ciel patrons brought them home by the basket full. The gallery classroom was filled with creative spirits painting, carving and spreading adhesive grout and seashells (bountiful platters of cookies and candy helped)…and several member artist elves, who had apparently been moonlighting as members of the Monty Python troupe, entertained all with a spontaneous rendition of “The Holy Grail.”
There were gift items for everyone, including many naughty customers who bought something nice for themselves (wink wink).New member and textile artist Sydney Sogol’s thread-tastic wall weaving found its way home with a gallery crawl couple.A loyal gallery supporter spotted a piece by Claudia Soria which captured the local spot in which his son had proposed to his future daughter in-law.And one local lovely found a “foxy” piece of art to go with her sassy tattoo! To finish off the day, a member serenaded Ciel Gallery with a lovely cello concert!
Missed the events? No worries! The elves will be manning the gallery from now through the holidays to provide merriment, creativity and personalized gift service. And if you bring them a cookie, they just might break out the glitter and grout.
